Coimbatore Medical College to celebrate golden jubilee from February 12

There will be a mega medical exhibition lasting for 15 to 20 days in the month of June culmination on the foundation day.

Coimbatore: The formal inauguration of golden jubilee function of Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) will be on February 12, 2016. The celebrations would be kick-started by State Health minister Dr Vijaya Bhaskar and Minister S. P. Velumani at the college premises along with the launch of number of new facilities in the hospital, a group of doctors of the hospital told reporters here.

There will be several programmers as a part of the celebration such as health awareness programme like diabetes mellitus, breast cancer, cervical cancer, stop smoking and head and neck cancer awareness, obesity and diet, dengue, H1N1, contagious diseases, school health awareness including immunization programme, yoga and meditation and value of alternate medicine awareness.

“We have already launched a master health checkup programme for the lawyers and court employees and it will be conducted for four days from January 30,” Dr. Ravindran, professor of surgery. “On January 31 we are also conducting a rally from 6.30 am,” he added.

There will be a mega medical exhibition lasting for 15 to 20 days in the month of June culmination on the foundation day to benefit the general public in addition to school and college students where the hospital intends to extend special master health checkups and cancer screening programmes to almost all those who are going to visit the exhibition.

For the school students, special scientific essay competition, medical quiz competition, health awareness including cleanliness campaign, dental health awareness programme, special immunization programmes and preventive medicine values awareness would also be held.

Alumni members of all the 50 batches would participate including non-resident Indians too. The three day fest will be honouring all the retired professors during the event.
