Bengaluru: The billionaires are coming to the city, therefore buses can’t! The city traffic police, not ones to do anything that could ease traffic congestion that the citizens of Bengaluru are victims of daily, have ordered all private inter-city buses to practically stay out of the city for five days, February 1-5, so that VVIPs attending the government’s Global Investors’ Meet 2016 can have an easy and safe time commuting from five-star hotels to the venue, Palace Grounds.

To put it in the language of traffic police, the movement of “all long-distance contract carriage private buses and all-India permit buses” are restricted to outside the Outer Ring Road from 7 am to 10 pm on February 1-5 “to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and safety of the delegates and VVIPs participating in the Invest Karnataka Meet 2016”. Some 6.5 lakh people who travel by private inter-city buses every day will be adversely affected.

Also prohibited is “the movement of all types of small and medium-sized goods vehicles” on roads connecting to Palace Grounds between 6 am and 10 pm, February 1-5.
