Pranay's killers granted bail, but remain in prison
Hyderabad: Pranay’s killers were granted bail by the SC/ST special court. However, they are still in Warangal Central Prison as Nalgonda cops have invoked PD Act on them. The suspects accused of attacking dalit youth Pranay in Miryalaguda, were granted bail on Saturday.
Pranay was allegedly killed on the instructions of his father-in-law who was angered by his daughter’s inter caste marriage.
Speaking about the chargesheet, Pranays’ father Balaswamy said, “I got to know that since cops have not filed a chargesheet, I was given bail. Cops said that they are waiting for some reports to file a case. We informed the judge that there is a life threat for our family members from Maruthi Rao and other accused.”
Satyanarayana Goud, public prosecutor Nalgonda said, “In any case, the accused gets bail after 90 days if the chargesheet has not been filed.
Miryalaguda DSP Srinivas said, “According to the Supreme Court direction, a person can get bail. They got bail only in one case and are still in Warangal prison due to the PD Act.”
Speaking about the chargesheet Srinivas said, “We are waiting for forensics reports as the accused deleted the call log in his mobile. Forensic officials are retrieving it and we would file a report by January first week.”
