Hyderabad: Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar formed the women and children safety wing was formed in July, headed by a deputy commissioner of police, to focus on preventing crimes against women and children. The number of crime against women decreased in 2018 by 23 per cent with 2,394 cases reported this year as compared to 3,095 cases in 2017.
A total of 813 pending trials and 600 unsolved cases were monitored between July and December, 2018.
The wing focuses on collection, collation and analysing information on crimes against women and children including human trafficking.
It uses this information to conduct training related to women and children, and conduct awareness programmes with the help of Kala Brundam and help women get proper redressal of their grievances at the police station level.
About 1,699 complaints were received from women through different means like WhatsApp, Hawk-Eye, email, Dial 100, Twitter and walk-in, out of which 336 FIRs and 380 petty cases were registered.
The SHE teams, started in December 2014, and comprises of eight teams in Cyberabad.
Each team consists of a sub-inspector, an assistant sub-inspector, a head constable, two constables and two women police constables.
