YSRC on the lookout for candidates in Prakasam
Nellore: YSR Congress loyalists in Prakasam district are worried over the future prospects of the party in the district in view of weak leadership in as many as six segments out of 12 in the district. Though the party had won six seats in 2014, four legislators migrated to Telugu Desam. In addition to this, the alleged differences between party senior leaders Balineni Srinivasulu Reddy and Y.V. Subba Reddy is also affecting the party in some segments, TD sources said.
Party cadres have been hoping that high command will take initiative to set right the situation after the party chief’s Praja Sankalpa Yatra in the district. Sources in the party said Mr Reddy is keen on fielding strong candidates to ensure victory and he is paying special attention to develop the party in the district. YSRC is likely to give party ticket to former legislator Pidathala Saikalpana Reddy at Giddalur instead of present in-charge I.V. Reddy. The Yarragondapalem seat may go to Santanutalapadu legislator Adimulapu Suresh.
If the party decides to field sitting candidates from the same segments, Markapuram legislator Janke Venkat Reddy will be nominated again from the same seat. Academician and party leader Venna Hanuma Reddy may replace Venkat Reddy if the party wants to change the candidate. In case of Darsi constituency, YSRC has announced Badam Madhava Reddy as in-charge for the segment. With regard to Kanigiri, YSRC state BC leader Janga Krishnamoorthy is being promoted by the leaders of the segment if party wants to give the seat to Yadava community.
The present in-charge Burra Madhusudhan has been aspiring for the seat. The name of former minister Manugunta Mahidhar Reddy is doing rounds as YSRC candidate for Kandukuru if he joins the party. Party in-charge Tumati Madhava Rao is after the seat now. Party may opt for a TD senior leader in Kondepi segment instead of in-charge Varikuti Ashok Babu if he is willing to contest.
Speculations are rife over the possibility of Santanutalapadu ticket going to an IRS officer Elisha. There are rumours over allotting tickets of Addanki, Parchur and Chirala segments to some potential candidates instead of in-charges. With regard to Ongole, former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy will contest once again from the seat and he is already activating the party cadres. Change is unlikely with respect to Ongole MP seat and Y.V. Subba Reddy will contest from the seat once again.
