Water to all homes next year in Hyderabad: Board
Hyderabad: All residences in the city will have water connections over the next one year, said metro water board officials.
The board will gradually stop supplying water by tankers with an aim to encourage households, especially in the urban slums, to apply for tap connections.
“New water connections will be approved in five days of submission of application, said water board chief M. Dana Kishore.
“Over 80 per cent of the water pipeline network in the peripheral belt has been laid. The remaining 20 per cent will be done by March 2018. Also, a plan to lay a network in urban slums will be executed where the board will provide infrastructure. This will induce consumers to apply for tap connections.
December onwards, bills can be paid through debit and credit cards,” said Mr Kishore.
The board will supply water to over 84 villages around the Outer Ring Road from 2018.
Below-poverty-line families will be given connection for a token of Re 1. The water tanker facility will gradually be stopped.
