Hyderabad: KPHB Muthoot loot verdict likely in 2018
Hyderabad: It was the same gang which participated in the 2015 dacoity at KPHB Muthoot and looted the financial firm in 2016. Chargesheets are filed in both the cases and the trial began in the 2015 case. The police is expecting a verdict in the first quarter of 2018, while the trial in the 2016 case is likely to begin in a couple of months.
After the arrest of an interstate gang in January 2017, the police found that the same gang was involved in the KPHB Muthoot case. On inquiry, they revealed that they were involved in robberies at Muthoot branches in other states too. One was at Jalna in Maharashtra where they looted Rs 2.38 crore and the other at Gulbarga in Karnataka where they looted 12 kg gold jewellery.
The gang was caught after the fourth heist at RC Puram. Chargesheets were filed in both cases and the trial in the KPHP case began in the court at Sangareddy. After the arrest, the suspects hired well-known advocates from Mumbai. They even approached the Supreme Court for bail which dismissed the pleas.
“Once they are out on bail, we cannot do anything and they may strike in other locations also. Though we could not recover the balance property, we hope to get conviction of all the suspects,” investigating officials said.
