HYDERABAD: Traffic woes continue to bother Hyderabadis with the city registering a significantly lower traffic speed in 2017 compared to last year.
According to a report by mobility platform Ola, the traffic speed dropped by 2.9km/hr in all the metropolitan cities. The lowest speed recorded by cabs in Hyderabad was 18.5 km/hr, which was 27.1 km/hr in 2016. Most commuters reported being stuck in traffic in the Old City-Charminar areas.
In fact, commuters in Chennai and Hyderabad had to start early from home to avoid traffic more often this year than in 2016.
While Chennaities left home 15 minutes early, Hyderabadi started two minutes early. On the other hand, Bengaluru residents left home 25 minutes late compared to last year. People in Hyderabad preferred individual rides compared to sharing cabs compared to other cities.
Delhi is among the top cities that shares rides the most. Sharing rides saved 16.1 million litres of fuel in the country, while carbon-dioxide emissions too reduced by 9.7million kg.
