Madras High Court rejects Sasikala Pushpa's petition

Alleging that her husband went missing after he was assaulted by a group of AIADMK cadres on Wednesday, Sasikala Pushpa filed the HCP.

Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed as not maintainable, the Habeas corpus petition filed by Rajya Sabha MP, Sasikala Pushpa, who was expelled from the AIADMK party, seeking a direction to the police to produce her husband Lingeswara Tilakar before the court and set him at liberty.

Alleging that her husband went missing after he was assaulted by a group of AIADMK cadres on Wednesday, Sasikala Pushpa filed the HCP.

When senior counsel V.Prakash, appearing for the petitioner made a mention about the HCP before a division bench comprising Justices S.Vaidyanathan and V.Parthiban, public prosecutor Rajarathinam informed the court that a case against Lingeswara was registered and he was arrested. He was let on bail this morning, he added. Following this, the bench dismissed the HCP as not maintainable.
