Kerala: Ramesh holds talks with Chandy over party unrest
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala held talks with former chief minister Oommen Chandy here on Thursday on the unrest in the party following the war of words between Mr K. Muraleedharan MLA and Mr Rajmohan Unnithan.
Mr Chandy defended Mr Murali saying that he was repeating only what Mr A.K. Antony had said about the need for unity and strong action by the party against the LDF government's policies.
Both the leaders felt that organisational elections should be held at the earliest.
"This is not the first time that Chennithala has tried to be an intermediary when his service is not at all required," a loyalist of Mr Chandy told DC.
"KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran had bitten the bait by fielding Rajmohan Unnithan to tackle Chennithala. However, it boomeranged," said another Congress leader.
The much-delayed high-power Political Affairs Committee will meet soon. Mr Sudheeran has attributed the delay to Mr Oommen Chandy's inconvenience. AICC general secretary in-charge of the state Mukul Wasnik will also attend it. Mr Chandy has said that he will be present provided he is free.
"Sudheeran has held talks with senior members of the PAC to know their convenience. A decision on the date of the meeting will be confirmed by Friday," said a KPCC leader.
