Kerala: No more queues at ATM, says Kummanam Rajasekharan

The fast is being held demanding the restoration of the ration quota and the resignation of Power Minister M. M. Mani.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan has claimed that the people no longer have to queue up before ATMs to withdraw their money following demonetisation.

Launching a 24-hour fast against the anti-people policies of the LDF Government in front of the secretariat here on Thursday, Mr Kummanam took a dig at the LDF's human chain and alleged that the people who queued up for it could not queue up for getting the old currency notes changed. The fast is being held demanding the restoration of the ration quota and the resignation of Power Minister M. M. Mani.

"There is no big queue in front of the ATMs these days. I don't think the biggest issue in the country now is shortage of cash. If that was so, we would not have witnessed a heavy rush to see the ISL finals in Kochi," said Mr Kummanam.
He said that those who were part of the human chain from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod should find out whether there was rice in the ration shops.

BJP spokesman and former chairman of national commission for SC/ST, Dr Bizay Sonkar Shastri, who inaugurated the fast alleged that the dalit population in the state was being targeted due to political rivalries. He also claimed that the people of Kerala were being ruled by murder politicians.

Mr Kummanam launched the fast in the presence of leaders, including O. Rajagopal, C. K. Janu and P. C. Thomas. The fast will conclude at 10 a.m. on Friday.
