Frost returns to Ooty, nights get colder
OOTY: Nearly after three weeks, frosting has returned to the hills as this queen of hill stations has begins to reel under cold wave in the night hours.
While frosting made its appearance in the last week of November this winter in the hills, it just continued for a week and disappeared. After the first week of December, hardly there was any trace of frosting, barring some reports in the outskirts of Ooty town couple of week ago.
When it seemed that frosting failed to make the expected mark here this winter, on Thursday it came back with vengeance as it was reported from across the town limits with all the low lying areas turning white due to deposition of frost, indicating that the mercury has plummeted.
Stating that the minimum temperature recorded at the Government Botanical Garden here on Thursday morning was 4 degrees Celsius, Mr.N. Mani, the joint director of Horticulture, said that frosting could be seen in some parts of the garden.
With return of frost, bone-chilling cold weather in the night hours is back in Ooty, though the day weather is moderately warm and shiny.
