Chennai: Robber hopping terraces falls, nabbed
Chennai: A burglar, who tried to escape by jumping from terrace of one house to another in Morai village near Avadi when chased by residents fell off and broke one his legs.
According to the police, Rajasekar of Vyasarpadi fell on the ground when he misjudged distance between two terraces as he fled to dodge the chasing residents. The residents chased criss-cross in all streets. Police said Rajasekar fell down from 20-foot high terrace on the ground and got injured as he landed on his legs.
He was later caught by the people and he was thrashed before he was handed over at the Avadi Tank Factory police station.
Rajasekar was injured in the attack and he was treated at the government hospital before he was produced before a magistrate court in the city. Police remanded him in Puzhal prison on Wednesday.
During questioning, he told police that he was a habitual offender and came to Avadi Tank Factory area targeting locked houses. Local residents woke up hearing noise from at one of the neighbour’s house, which was locked.
They noticed an intruder searching inside the locked house and he raised an alarm. Following this, the burglar climbed on to the terrace and ran for his escape before breaking his leg during unsuccessful attempt to jump from one terrace to another.
