Hyderabad: A bright kid, hoped to become a doctor

Eashwar Panjwani, Tarun’s brother-in-law, said the college management should take responsibility for Tarun’s death.

Hyderabad: With reports emerging that students left the college campus without intimating the management, allegedly after jumping the compound wall, family members of the two deceased students — K. Tarun Kumar and D. Uday Shankar — have strongly spoken out against the management of Narayana College.

Heart-wrenching moments were witnessed at the OGH mortuary, when Tarun’s mother Mrs Ambika Kumar, who could barely speak, was crying inconsolably, lost her consciousness several times.

Eashwar Panjwani, Tarun’s brother-in-law, said the college management should take responsibility for Tarun’s death.

“While admitting the child, the college management promised his safety and that they would inform when the boy steps out of campus. But they only called to inform us that he was no more,” he said.

At around 6.30 am, officials from the college management called Ms Sneha, Tarun’s sister, informing her that he had met with an accident and suffered injuries.

“Only after reaching the OGH, we learnt about his death,” said Panjwani. “Is it not the responsibility of the college to take care of our wards? How can they callously just inform that students had jumped the compound wall and ran away? What was the security guard doing? Where was the warden?”

Meanwhile, Ms Shobha Rani, relative of Uday Shankar, said, “He was a bright student, who had scored over 980 marks in intermediate examinations. I forced his parents and got him admitted to the college so that he could become a doctor. This kind of incident should not happen to any child. No family should face such loss.”
