Navy's Operational Demonstration is sight to behold
Visakhapatnam: Ramakrishna Beach in Vizag city on Thursday resembled a war zone as well as a tourist spot, what with hundreds of people lining up to watch the Naval Operational Demonstration Rehearsals as a part of the upcoming Naval Day celebrations (December 4).
The Eastern Naval Command displayed its maritime, air and onshore capabilities, putting forth the might of its fleet. On display were Indian Navy’s premier warships, carrying Indian flags onboard and launching dinghies with naval commandos who subsequently launched a mock attack on reaching the shore.
These commandos were joined in the sea by a few more naval commandos who were airdropped by a naval helicopter, making for a visual feast to the public.
A huge blast close to the shore drew the attention of the public, even as the smoke emanating from the blast went up in a perfect ring.
The Naval officials said that to commemorate the Navy Day on December 4, every year, the ENC showcases the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities and activities that the Navy undertakes on the high seas with an operational demonstration.
The Navy Day operation demonstration gives an opportunity for the public to have a closer look at the multifarious activities of the Navy and the challenges that naval personnel experience at sea. Rehearsals for the Op Demo are scheduled from 4 pm to 6 pm on December 3 also.
