Full support to Karmasamithi, says PS Sreedharan Pillai
Kochi: BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai said on Monday that the party will continue to give wholehearted support to the agitation undertaken by Sabarimala Karmasamithi on the Sabarimala temple entry issue.
Talking to mediapersons here in Kochi the BJP state president rejected suggestions that the organisation has toned down its agitation on the Sabarimala issue. He said the High Court’s intervention has brought some relief in the situation but the stand of the state government remained the same. “We will spread the agitation in phases till we achieve the desired goals and the next phase will be launched soon,” he said ahead of the state office-bearers’ meeting which was later held here in the day.
He also claimed that all BJP's agitations have been outside 'poonkavanam'and only symbolic agitations have been decided by the party. He also said that the decision to abandon the police station march at Nilakkal and resort to symbolic agitation once a week was taken a week back and it is not indicative any toning down in agitation. Sreedharan Pillai also said that the future agitation on the issue will be led by the Central leadership of the party. The leadership has deputed four MPs to probe and report on the human rights violations and other issues at Sabarimala.
“The arrest and confinement of party general secretary K Surendran is illegal and anti-democratic and the BJP agitation on it will continue,” he said.
After the office-bearers’ meeting, he told the media that state general secretary A. N. Radhakrishnan will lead a 15-day long hunger strike in front of the state secretariat from December 3 demanding repeal of prohibitory orders and the cases foisted on Surendran and others, action against police officials who charged the cases and ensuring facilities for Sabarimala pilgrims. A campaign to collect one crore signatures on the issue is on, he said.
