Candlelight vigil for Ockhi victims

Thiruvananthapuram: Various parishes of the Latin Catholic Church organised remembrance meetings on the first anniversary of Ockhi on Thursday.They also organised candlelight vigil as a mark of respect to the victims of the Ockhi tragedy.
The prayer organised at Valiyathura was led by Thiruvananthapuram Archbishop M Soosapakiam. In Poonthura, the prayer was led by Auxiliary Bishop R Christudas. Fr Eugene Parera, spokesperson of Latin Catholic Church, led the prayers at Vizhinjam.
As part of the first anniversary of Ockhi, the church distributed pensions to 130 families included in Karunamayan project. The church also provided marriage assistance to 35 girls belonging to fishermen families who lost their livelihood in Ockhi as part of the project.
