Cabinet expansion before Belagavi session, says Dinesh Gundurao
Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, Dinesh Gundurao on Thursday said he was “pretty sure” the much awaited Cabinet expansion would take place before the start of the winter session of the legislature in Belagavi on December 10.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Rao said, "I don't see any reason for deferring it anymore. We (leaders from both parties) are already talking about how to go about it. AICC general secretary, K. C. Venugopal is arriving on Monday, and we will discuss it with him too.”
In response to a question, he admitted that the party was facing some internal problems in districts like Hassan and Mandya. "I won't say that everything is hunky dory in these districts. Definitely there are problems, but we know how to deal with them. We are not ignoring them at all, but they will take their own time to resolve," he contended.
Asked about BJP state president, B. S. Yeddyurappa's meeting with Water Resources Minister, D. K. Shivakumar, which had set off much speculation, he retorted, "Why do you (media) expect me to react to this? It was a meeting between two leaders, who are mature enough to tell you why they met. I don't think we need to read too
much into it. It is very common in a democratic set-up for an opposition party leader to meet with the Chief Minister or a Minister. I would like to see it that way.”
