Brazilian Carnival to inspire Vizag Utsav
Visakhapatnam: Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday said that the Visakha Utsav, the annual festival of the city, will be held from December 28 to December 30 on a grand scale.
The grand carnival planned on the RK Beach will be on the lines of Brazilian carnival. This will be highlight of this year’s festival.
Talking to newsmen in Vizag city, Mr Srinivasa Rao said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the inaugural function as the chief guest. Minister for tourism Bhumana Akhila Priya, all other state ministers, MPs and MLAs, important people from different walks of life will attend the three-day festival.
On the inaugural day a grand carnival on the lines of Brazilian carnivals would be held at the Ramakrishna Beach where tableaux representing various facets of the state would be displayed with the background music provided by Navy Band, the minister said.
Two venues have been planned — the main venue at RK Beach and the other down the Novatel hotel where the cultural programmes would be held involving the local artistes.
Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Regional Development Authority will organise flower show at Visakha Central Park. The endowments department will display models of famous temples of the state. “We have requested the Ministry of Defence to organise an air-show during the festival,” Mr Srinivasa Rao said.
