AP Housing corporation head wants work finished quickly

The state government had sanctioned 10 lakh houses for the period 2014 to 2018 out of which only seven lakh have been constructed so far.

Rajahmundry: AP State Housing Corporation Limited managing director Kantilal Dande instructed officials to expedite construction of houses sanctioned under various schemes for the benefit of people.

Taking part in a regional review meeting on rural housing with housing officials from East and West Godavari districts here on Thursday, the MD said that the state government had sanctioned 10 lakh houses for the period 2014 to 2018 out of which only seven lakh have been constructed so far. He asked them to complete construction of the remaining three lakh houses in the next 100 days. He said that in addition to them, the state government had newly sanctioned four lakh houses and instructed them to conduct gram sabhas and come up with proposals and identify beneficiaries for the new houses.

The MD said that under NTR urban housing scheme, 2.28 lakh houses were sanctioned for 2018-19 and asked the officials to prepare proposals for them also.

He appreciated the East Godavari administration for fulfilling the targets for construction of sanctioned houses for 2016-17, 2017-18.

He felt the need to expedite construction of houses sanctioned under PMAY Rural scheme as only 3,500 housing units were constructed against the target of 4,038 units and asked the officials to come up with plans to complete construction of these units in December, January and February.
