Nellore: Prakasam district administration on Wednesday distributed ex gratia amount of Rs 7.5 lakh each to the kin of the victims of the recent boat tragedy in Vijayawada. The Government had announced Rs 8 lakh each as ex gratis to the families of the 18 persons killed in the mishap and released Rs 50,000 each towards expenses to perform the last rites on November 13.
Collector Vinaychand handed over the balance Rs 7.5 lakh to 17 families and Rs 9.5 lakh to the kin of Sayani Koteswar Rao, who was covered under Chandranna Bheema scheme, by cheques. According to the Collector the total compensation paid to the affected families amounted to Rs 1.46 crore. He assured all help from the government to the bereaved families while urging them not to worry about the future.
