TTV, Sasikala can't seek bank docs on funds: CS Vaidyanathan
Chennai: Senior Counsel C.S.Vaidyanathan appearing for Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Paneerselvam on Wednesday informed the Madras high court that the faction led by TTV Dinakaran and V.K. Sasikala have no stake in the AIADMK party and they do not have any locus standi to seek the documents relating to party funds in banks.
Senior counsel Vaidyanathan made this submission before Justice C.V. Karthikeyan when the civil suit filed by Dinakaran and Sasikala to restrain Palaniswami and Paneerselvam from holding the organizational posts of the party and to declare the resolutions passed at the general council meeting held in Vanagaram on September 12 last as invalid, came up for hearing. Senior counsel Abishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for TTV and Sasikala contended that the other side had not complied with the earlier directions of the court to submit the party accounts.
Vaidyanathan said the details had already been submitted in a sealed cover. Singhvi said it has to be served to the plaintiffs, so that they can file a counter.
The judge said the details were given in a sealed cover and the same was handed over to the registry for safe keep. The judge also opined that as per law the plaintiff has to be served a copy. Then, the judge adjourned the matter to December 21, when both the parties should file their affidavit and counter affidavit.
