Telangana to host 3 global events

The government has sanctioned Rs 6 crore.

Hyderabad: After successfully organising world’s biggest conclave, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017, the state government is gearing up for three more major international conferences in the next three months. The World Telugu Conference will be held in city for four days at LB Stadium from December 15 to 19, followed by the Indian Science Congress in January 2018 in Osmania University and World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2018) at HICC in February 2018.

It will be the first WCIT to be held in India and will be attended by over 5,000 delegates from 80 countries including 20 chief executive officers of global IT firms. While President Ram Nath Kovind will take part in World Telugu Conference and attend as chief guest for the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Indian Science Congress in Osmania University.

Either Mr Kovind or Mr Modi is expected to inaugurate the WCIT to be held from February 18 to 21; the government has requested both to take part. The government ho-pes the WCIT would create opportunities for business worth US$ 2 trillion besides helping brand building of Hyderabad, innovation platforms and jobs. Hyderabad was chosen as the venue for the 2018 event as it was a leading IT hub in the country, had global recognition and good infrastructure.

Issues such as cyber security, global collaborative models, IT continuing education policies, global convergence, future of technology and others would be discussed. The government has sanctioned Rs 6 crore. The 105th Indian Science Congress to be held by Centre from January 3 to 7 will be attended by 10 Nobel Laureates, 500 foreign scientists and 15,000 delegates. Already 10,000 delegates have registered their names.

The Telugu conference would bring 5,000 delegates from the fields of literature and art for five days in December to be attended by Mr Kovind and Mr M. Venkaiah Naidu. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is monitoring the work leading to the Telugu conference and has given guidelines to highlight Telangana’s contribution to Telugu, as well as culture.
