Hyderabad Metro Rail: Passengers park their vehicles on pavements

The security staff were unable to stop people from parking on the pavement, as they too had parked their bikes there.

Hyderabad: Pavements constructed outside the metro stations at Ameerpet, Tarnaka, Secunderabad, Rasoolpura, Prakash Nagar, Kukatpally and JNTU turned into parking spaces for bikes.

College students, senior citizens, and women came to the stations in their private vehicles to enjoy Metro rides and found that parking was a ma-jor problem. While cars were parked in by-lanes, bikes were parked on newly-laid pavements. The security staff were unable to stop people from parking on the pavement, as they too had parked their bikes there.

Syed Aziz, who is in charge of parking at Tarnaka Sta-tion, says, “Parking facilities are supposed to be launched on December 1. We have ord-ered barricades for two and four wheelers. It will take a few more days to ensure that everything is in place.”

The stations that witnessed the most crowd were Miyapur, Kukatpally, Ameerpet, Parade Grounds, Paradise, Nagole and Tarnaka.
