Efforts of people thought of Hyderabad Metro, unrecognised
Hyderabad: The people who toiled to make the Hyderabad Metro Rail a reality were nowhere to be seen on the day of commencement of commercial operations.
Mr Sanjay Kapoor, former manager of corporate communications for L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, wrote on his Facebook wall, “Today when the Hyderabad Metro Rail opens for the public, I salute the contribution of those forgotten heroes who laid the foundation of this Metro and build it up to this level. They are K. Venkatesh, who spearheaded the thought and then diligently went to win the concession; A. Soundarajan, who can be called the father of this Metro from L&T’s point of view, as he was the one who did all the background work; Jagmohan Lal Arora, who gave the beautiful train to the Hyderabad Metro; K. Manoj, without whom fights with other stakeholders would not have reached their logical conclusion; Sushanta Ganguly and Sudipto Lahiri who were instrument in recruitment; J.V. Ramakrishna for putting the technology in place; V.B. Gadgil, whose leadership qualities were unquestionable; and the workers and engineers who laid it brick by brick, along with many others.”
Many people responded to his post saying that he too was a part of the team that had created the project from scratch.
According to sources from the company, the new team has made it its mission to complete the project at the earliest. With this goal in mind, the company is abiding by the government’s wishes and going soft on negotiations.
