Chandrababu Naidu claims credit for Metro

Mr. Naidu said that on his initiative, Dr E. Sreedharan of Delhi Metro had carried out a study on Hyderabad Metro.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday claimed that he had fought for and secured the Metro Rail project for Hyderabad. In an informal conversation with mediapersons in the Assembly lobbies at Amaravati, Mr Naidu said that when the Metro Rail was confined to Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, he had fought with the Centre and secured it for Hyderabad as well. He said it was because of his efforts that the Metro Rail was sanctioned to Hyderabad. “The Karnataka and Gujarat governments completed the Metro Rail work in a speedy manner. Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy delayed the process,” Mr Naidu said.

Mr. Naidu said that on his initiative, Dr E. Sreedharan of Delhi Metro had carried out a study on Hyderabad Metro. The TD government had played a vital role in Hyderabad’s development he said. HICC, where the Global Entrepreneurship Summit was held, and the Shamshabad airport came up during the TD government's tenure. “Though I did not inaugurate the Hyderabad Metro, I have the satisfaction that Hyderabad has developed,” Mr Naidu said.
