BJP never had respect for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar: Dinesh Gundurao

Mr Gundurao recalled how former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa had removed Dr Ambedkar's picture from his cabin when he was in power.

Bengaluru: Hitting out at BJP leaders for ignoring Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president and former minister, Dinesh Gundurao on Wednesday charged that the BJP leaders in the state never had any respect for the architect of the Constitution.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Gundurao recalled how former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa had removed Dr Ambedkar's picture from his cabin when he was in power.

Mr Rao said, "Showing disrespect to Dr Ambedkar seems to have become a habit with them (BJP leaders)."

According to him, although BJP leaders never fail to highlight how the ruling Congress party did not print Dr Ambedkar's picture in one of the advertisements, what they do not know is that Dr Ambedkar lives in the hearts of every Congressmen in the country. "I only hope that their garbage filled minds are cleared of evil thoughts," he retorted.

Coming down heavily on BJP leaders like C.T. Ravi. Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje and Ananth Kumar Hegde, Mr Rao claimed that they have lost their senses and are making comments on public figures.

"Although, BJP leaders repeatedly claim that they are the custodians of our culture, when they speak or make statements, they utter rubbish," he contended.

In response to a question regarding remarks made by noted actor turned politician and former minister Ambareesh who hails from Mandya district, Mr Gundurao asserted that the party high command will take everyone into confidence and take necessary action and decisions when the time is opportune.

"No doubt Mr Ambareesh is a party leader, he has never been ignored at any point of time," he said cryptically in response to another question.
