Bengaluru: After Bellandur and Varthur, it's the turn of Kaggadasapura lake to froth! The stench from the toxic waterbody, is all pervading.
A citizen-led initiative which had seen residents fund the building of a raft to clean the lake, earlier this year, seemed to have had little effect. The main reason for the froth, which in Bellandur and Varthur had even caught fire, is said to be the absence of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the nearby apartments and IT parks.
Swarit Agarwal, a techie who led the citizen-initiative to rejuvenate the lake said it was time, "security guards should be deployed to stop people from dumping garbage into the water body," and advocated an urgent clearing of the weeds. Are you listening, BBMP?
