AP Train Accident: Surge in Demand for Buses in Vizianagaram-Srikakulam Area

Visakhapatnam: The train accident between Kantakapalli and Alamanda in the mainline of the Waltair Division has caused significant disruption of train services including cancellation, diversion, and short-termination of multiple trains. Disruption in train services resulted in an unprecedented demand for bus services in the Vizianagaram-Srikakulam region, leaving commuters searching for alternative transportation options.

Normally, 50-60 buses operate in the Vizianagaram-Srikakulam area. However, with the sudden cancellation and diversion of trains, an additional 50-60 buses have been deployed to address the increased demand. All the buses are overcrowded with passengers seen hanging near the doors.

In view of the emergency situation, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) deployed 18 additional buses to facilitate the swift transportation of injured passengers to hospitals.

Gandi Satyanarayana, Deputy Divisional Traffic Control Manager (DTCM), expressed his concerns about the increasing demand for buses in the region. "The demand is exceptionally high, and it is expected that the rush will continue in the afternoon," he stated. Commuters are urged to remain patient and cooperate with transport authorities as they work diligently to meet the surge in demand.
