Race for market committee chairman posts hots up

The ruling party is trying to lure adivasis by offering them nominated posts

Adilabad: The hopes of TRS leaders aspiring for nominated posts have been rekindled after Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao re-nominated Kanaka Lakke Rao as chairman of Aboriginal Tribes Welfare Advisory Committee (ATWAC), ITDA in Utnoor. Reportedly, Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh played a key role in Lakke Rao getting the post a second time.

The ruling party is trying to lure adivasis by offering them nominated posts. There is a huge demand for ST (reserved) Adilabad and Bela market committee chairman posts.

Meanwhile adivasi leaders are mounting pressure on Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna to promote senior leaders who have been party loyalists and strived for the welfare of Adivasis.

The latest is that a senior TRS leader, who happens to be a MLA’s relative, is angling to become the next Adilabad market committee chairman. TRS leaders opine that affluent persons who are not associated with the party should not be considered.

Meanwhile, within adivasis, TRS leaders from adivasi groups are lobbying for the Adilabad, Bela Market, and Indravelli committee chairman’s posts.

Adivasis and Thudumdebba leaders appealed to the party's top leadership to allocate the Indravelli market committee chairman post to an adivasi as a lambada was nominated twice for the same post.

Some party seniors have pinned hopes on local body MLC post and those of ICDS and Adilabad DCCB chairman post.

The tenure of some nominated appointees is over and they have been lying vacant for some time.

Thudumdebba district president Godam Ganesh said the ruling party and local MLAs should give nominated posts to senior TRS Adivasi leaders by considering their seniority and services to the party.
