Left to highlight ashram attack
Thiruvananthapuram: The Left parties have decided to campaign widely against the attack on Sandeepananda Giri's ashram in Kundamandkadavu here on Saturday.
More than a criminal attack, the LDF views the incident as a well-planned attempt to scuttle voices which are challenging the Brahmanical hierarchy and Brahmanical hegemony. Sangh Parivar, Rahul Easwar and Co have been ridiculing Sandeepananda calling him "P K Shibu" in television debates and public meetings.
The Left leadership is not ready to accept this as just a joke. It says the Sangh Parivar outfits were shying away from a debate on rituals, religious ceremonies and scriptures with Swami Sandeepananda Giri and indulging in mud slinging.
The LDF leaders say Sandeepananda became the target of Sangh Parivar after he favoured the entry of women in Sabarimala following Supreme Court verdict. He had spoken at well attended public meetings challenging the claims of Thazhamon Tantri family and Sangh Parivar.
LDF top leaders will kick off the campaign against such mindless attacks with a public meeting at Kundmankadavu on October 30. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will inaugurate the public meeting.
