Hyderabad: Indigo Airlines pilot forgets to refuel plane

The pilot's forgetfulness to get the plane refuelled costed the flight delay of an hour.

Hyderabad: An Indigo Airlines aircraft which was on its way to Hyderabad, made an emergency landing at the Chandigarh International Airport on Monday as the pilot had forgotten to get the plane refuelled. The plane was refuelled and it took off about an hour later. The plane (Flight No. 6E274) landed at Hyderabad at 5.50 pm, an hour behind schedule.

Reportedly, 160 passengers were on board and were shocked to learn about the incident. The aircraft was later refuelled and it took off about an hour later. While the plane had moved around 200 metres on the runway, Air Traffic Control (ATC) sent a radio message to the pilot that he had forgotten to get the plane refuelled. Later, the pilot apologised to the passengers for the lapse.

In a recent incident, a Jet Airways flight plying from Mumbai to Jaipur was turned back mid-air after passengers complained of ear bleeds and nose bleeds due to a drop in cabin air pressure. It was reported that the cabin crew of the Boeing 737 flight had forgotten to turn on the switch to maintain the cabin pressure. The passengers were rushed to a hospital. Jet Airways, in a statement, said the flight’s cockpit crew had been taken off duty after 30 out of 166 passengers experienced bleeding.
