GAIL pipeline damage: Traffic stops at ITPL Main Road
Bengaluru: Traffic was thrown out of gear on the busy ITPL Main Road on Monday morning because of a damage to the GAIL gas pipeline during Metro work.
Areas around ITPL too witnessed heavy traffic jams. Officials repaired the damage and traffic was brought back to normal by afternoon.
The pipeline was damaged around 4.30 am when Metro workers were carrying out drilling work near Decathlon. Soon after the damage was noticed, the police blocked the entry of vehicles on the ITPL Main Road. At the same time, GAIL officials were informed and the flow of gas through the pipeline.
By the peak hours, traffic had piled up on ITPL Road, Outer Ring Road and Devasandra. Motorists moving towards ITPL Main Road to reach Whitefield were advised to use Devasandra Main Road or use the ORR to proceed towards Marathahalli and reach Whitefield. People moving towards the city from Whitefield were advised to proceed towards Graphite India from Hoodi, proceed towards Kundalahalli and reach the city via Marathahalli. Traffic bound Traffic headed towards Kempegowda International Airport was diverted towards Devasandra Road or through Graphite India, Kundalahalli, Marathahalli and to ORR.
GAIL files complaint
GAIL filed a complaint with the Mahadevapura police against a BMRCL contractor for damaging one of their pipelines during the Metro construction work on Monday. The Mahadevapura police filed a non-cognizable register and are
investigating.
