Residents pin hopes on SCB meeting
Hyderabad: Cantonment residents are pinning hopes on board members to in-clude the roads closure issue on the agenda of the board meeting on Monday. Out of the 12 roads closed, six roads are stated as cantonment fund roads on the Class C lands.
Members of Oscar (Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads) and the Federation of North Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad have asked the SCB to debate on road closure as lakh of commuters are facing hardships due to the rigid stand by the army.
S. Chandrashekar, an Oscar member, stated that all the 12 roads in which vehicular movement is restricted have to be opened first because due procedures were not followed before closing them.
“Section 258 of the Cantonment Act was not followed in closure of roads. We demand the authorities to withdraw their unilateral decision and discuss the issue with all stakeholders,” he said. The meeting will commence at 10.30 am on Monday and will give approval to few projects.
