Forest minister Dindigul C Srinivasan says OPS met PM Singh' in Delhi

Manmohan Singh demitted Prime Minister's office in May 2014 after the BJP led by Modi swept the polls.

Chennai: In a major faux pas, forest minister Dindigul C. Srinivasan referred to Congress veteran Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of the country.

While addressing a rally in his native Dindigul district on Saturday night, the minister said a central team of doctors came from New Delhi to suggest measures to control dengue only after deputy chief minister O Pannerselvam met “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh”.

Without realising that he had made a mistake by referring to Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister instead of Narendra Modi, Srinivasan continued his speech at the 46th anniversary celebrations of the AIADMK. Manmohan Singh demitted Prime Minister’s office in May 2014 after the BJP led by Modi swept the polls.

“Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami sent deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam to meet Manmohan Singh to request him to send doctors from institutes like AIIMS to suggest measures to control dengue. The team came after the request from the Tamil Nadu Government”, Srinivasan said.
