Concerns over health status of Kalki Bhagawan

The ashram on Saturday refuted the rumours that he was undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

Tirupati: Amid widespread reports on the deteriorating health of spiritual guru Kalki Bhagawan, the ashram on Saturday refuted the rumours that he was undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital in Chennai. There was panic among the devotees who are thronging the ashram at Varadaiahpalem as well as at Apollo Hospital where the police was having a tough time controlling them.

In a press release on Saturday, Mr G. Umapathi, administrator of the ashram at Varadaiahpalem, said the guru was fine. “Kalki Bhagawan went to Apollo Hospital in Chennai for a routine health check up three days ago and came back to the ashram after the medical examination. He is in the ashram hale and healthy and involved in his day-to-day spiritual rituals. Media houses splashed the news without confirming with us and devotees got into a panic. We appeal to the devotees not to believe those reports,” he said.

According to sources in the ashram, Kalki Bhagawan has not been giving darshan to his devotees for three months. In 2013, Kalki Bhagawan was seriously ill and underwent treatment at Apollo Hospital for more than 20 days. Then too there was panic among his devotees as the ashram had not issued any medical bulletin. A year ago Kalki Bhagawan underwent heart surgery in the same hospital and later gave darshan to his devotees at the ashram. Despite the ashram's clarifications devotees continued to throng the ashram in the hope of having darshan of their guru.
