Karnataka: Ballari RTO to Recover Rs 3.59 Crore in Pending Road Taxes

Ballari: The Ballari Regional Transport Office (RTO) has taken steps to recover a total of Rs 3.59 crore in pending road taxes from 7,682 vehicles under its jurisdiction.

Tax Demand Notices have been served by the department to the concerned parties. RTO N Shekhar said that stringent legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply even after receiving the notice.

According to officials, a total Rs. 3,59,38,111 is due from these 7,682 vehicles.

RTO Bellary is leaving no stone unturned to expedite the recovery of the outstanding taxes.

"The Bellary R.T.O. is committed to ensuring the timely retrieval of the dues and is ready to escalate the matter to the courts, if necessary. Those with pending taxes are urged to settle their outstanding dues promptly through the e-payment system. It is imperative for the government to receive its rightful revenue, which is crucial for public welfare," Shekhar said in a press statement.

Most of the vehicle owners are faced with a tax liability of over Rs 1 lakh.

In 2022 Ballari RTO filed a case against 154 vehicle owners for not paying tax dues. Similarly, in 2023, cases have been filed against 35 vehicle owners for defaulting on their tax liabilities.
