Rain forecast for Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: The IMD Amaravati in its report on Thursday said heavy rains are likely to occur in Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from September 30 to October 3 and beyond.

The report said the cyclonic circulation over West Central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persisted on Thursday. The east-west trough from north Andaman Sea to Andhra Pradesh coast across Central Bay of Bengal now runs from east central Bay of Bengal to South Interior Karnataka across West Central Bay of Bengal and Rayalaseema at 3.1 km above mean sea level.

Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at isolated places in South Coastal AP and Rayalaseema. Heavy rain is also likely at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is also likely at isolated places in North Coastal AP, Yanam, South Coastal AP and Rayalaseema. The report said the rains will continue till
October 3.
