KADAPA: Work estimates of Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi phase II- package I and II works have got administrative sanction from the State government.

Officials of the water resources department believe that the government will save not less than Rs 70 crores in for these two works.

They have prepared estimates for Rs 734 crores for the canal works in two packages. They are preparing to call for tenders on September 30 and the bids will be accepted till October 14.

These works were bagged by Ritwik Projects Private Limited. The company stood L1 for these two works under package-I and II with 3.14 per cent excess price. The package I for Rs 406 crores and package II for Rs 351.66 crores. When the YSRC came to power, the CM Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled these two works and ordered to call for fresh tenders. Officials prepared new estimates.

The package I work runs through Veerapunayunipalle, Vempalle, Vemula and Pendlimarri villages. The officials acquired 109 acres of land, but bills of forest department have to be cleared.

The government has to pay Rs 6 crores. Under package II - from 66.15 km to 86.50 km, required 257 acres of land acquisition has been completed.

There was 70 acres of state government land, and compensation for the remaining 187 acres is to be paid to the farmers.

As many as 22,000 acres of land would get irrigation water after the completion of these two packages.

The tenders will be opened on October 17 and the Water Resources Department will announce the L1 bidder.

Then, the e-auction will be begun with the L1 quoted price as the basic. All the contractors will attend the e-auction process and the one who will quote the least price will be awarded this work in the reverse tendering process. While speaking to DC, Water Resources Department Chief Engineer S. Maqbul Ahmmed said: “We are very much confident that the price will be less, up to 10 per cent. All the process was completed for the tenders,” he said.

If the price will become lesser than the earlier tenders, the State Government will benefit more than Rs 70 crores.
