Bengaluru: In an insensitive and highhanded act, the police crashed their vehicle into an autorickshaw, which had jumped the signal on MG Road on Saturday night. Alert public caught hold of the policemen, heckled them for crossing the limit and helped the auto driver get out of their clutches.

The incident took place near Anil Kumble Circle on Saturday night around 8.30 when the auto driver jumped the traffic signal while heading towards Shivajinagar.

Immediately, the police vehicle, bearing the registration number KA 01 G 5764, chased and crashed into the auto from behind trying to stop it. Eyewitnesses said that five people got down from the vehicle and tried to drag the auto driver to the police station. But a crowd gathered at the spot, surrounded the police vehicle and told the policemen point blank that they were being highhanded.

They asked the police what if the auto driver had suffered major injuries when the police crashed their vehicle into the auto. The policemen tried to argue with the crowd but could not defend their action. The furious crowd asked the police whether they could anything just because they are policemen.

When the officers sensed that the situation was going out of hand, they left the spot and also let go of the auto driver.

The crowd told the auto driver to file a complaint, but he hesitated as he feared police action. The entire incident was posted on the social network sites and was trending.
