Bengaluru: 2 consume alcohol mixed with poison in cemetery, die

The wives of Rajesh and Murugesh are sisters and the two are living with their families in Marathahalli.

Bengaluru: Two men allegedly ended their life by drinking poison-laced alcohol at a cemetery in Lakshmipura in Indiranagar police limits on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Rajesh (42) and Murugesh (39) who are related to each other and residents of Marathahalli. They worked at a gas agency.

The wives of Rajesh and Murugesh are sisters and the two are living with their families in Marathahalli. The duo was irregular to work for unknown reasons, the police said.

The two deceased have gone to the cemetery with alcohol and poison bottles deciding to end their lives. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the two committed suicide by drinking poison-laced alcohol. We are investigating if there were more people with them and if they had any involvement in their death. We are examining the CCTV footage," the police said.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning when a passerby spotted the two lying unconscious. He informed the Indiranagar police who rushed to the spot and found Rajesh dead while Murugesh still alive. They rushed him to a nearby hospital but he too died.

The police registered a case and started the investigation. Alcohol and a poison bottles have been recovered from the spot.

The post-mortem report too confirmed that the two died of drinking alcohol laced with poison. The police said that they are probing the murder angle too.
