BIAL sets up countdown clock for second runway
Bengaluru: The construction work of the second runway has begun at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) which is set to be completed by the end of September or October 2019.
To keep the employees motivated to reach the goal, the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), which operates KIA, has set up a digital countdown clock at the administrative block and project office. A senior BIAL official said that the clock is a reminder that there is a goal to be achieved. “It is to keep everyone inspired and motivated. Whenever employees look at the clock, they can get inspired to work to achieve the target,” he said.
“The second runway is important as there is a need to increase capacity and we need to complete it on time to accommodate the growing number of passengers,” he said.
Sources said that the second runway is about 4 km long and 45 metre wide. The tender for the second terminal is almost finalised and will be made official in the first week of October, after which the work will begin. It is expected to be completed by 2022.
