Bengaluru traffic cop kicks triple riding bike, 1 pillion dead

Though the entire chase was caught on CCTV cameras, the police are in a denial mode.

Bengaluru: While the Lucknow police shootout may have shocked the nation, a similar case of police high handedness was reported recently in Bengaluru.

An angry traffic cop attached to Banaswadi traffic police station kicked a biker for riding triple near Hennur on Tuesday. As a result, the bike rider lost control of the two-wheeler and rammed into a goods vehicle, resulting in the death of one of the pillion riders.

However, the Banaswadi traffic cops tried to put blame on the bikers and the driver of the goods vehicle, to save the erring cop.

The deceased has been identified as Chetan (25). Immediately after the accident he was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed.

The rider of the bike has been identified as Vinay (21), while the other pillion rider was Kiran (22) and they are undergoing treatment for injuries.

All this happened after a hot chase by two bike-borne cops who wanted to nab the three traffic offenders. The trio had taken a U-turn and accelerated the bike after spotting the traffic cops near Gunduthoppu bus stop to avoid being fined.

When the cops noticed them taking a U-turn, they launched a chase and the cop who was riding pillion kick the biker from behind, leading to the accident.

Though the entire chase was caught on CCTV cameras, the police are in a denial mode.

They have registered a case of accident making Vinay as the accused and named all the others, including the goods vehicle driver Santosh.

Cops refused to take complaint
The hot chase was also witnessed by the public. Some of them tried to file a complaint against the two bike-borne cops, but the police inspector allegedly refused and instead abused them. However, after the death of Chetan, senior police officers are investigating the case.
