Telangana Wakf help sought to solve qazi case

Police has sought the help of the Telangana Wakf Board to examine the records seized from the office of Ali Abdullah Rifai.

Hyderabad: Qazi Ali Abdullah Rifai alias Talabkatta, who is under suspension, was not issued the siyanama (marriage booklet) by the TS Wakf Board last year. However, the qazi solemnised up to 200 marriages and issued the marriage booklet.

“Now the question is how did the qazi manage to get the siyanama. Had he printed it himself, or obtained it from other sources or did he use the old booklets,” noted Mr Tajuddin Ahmed, ACP Falaknuma,

The TS Wakf Board clarified that as they had not issued any booklet nor accepted any records from him for past four years, the marriages are not registered with the board nor any certificate was issued to them.

Police has sought the help of the Telangana Wakf Board to examine the records seized from the office of Ali Abdullah Rifai. The records are in Arabic, Urdu languages. “I ha-ve spoken to the board regarding it and they have assured us help,” said the ACP.
