Telangana police to help mentally unstable

The DG said that the department was operating 14 petrol bunks in the state and will start six more soon.

Hyderabad: Mr Vinoy Kumar Singh, director general of Telangana state prisons, stated on Friday that the department would launch a campaign with the help of NGOs to rehabilitate the mentally unstable persons who are roaming in the city.

Speaking at a press conference in the city, he said that the department with the help of NGOs and corporate houses would identify the mentally unstable persons and would rehabilitate them.

“We will assist the NGOs to secure funds from corporate house. Once we get the approval from the government, we will launch the drive. We will try to give them medical assistance also,” he said.

The DG said that the department was operating 14 petrol bunks in the state and will start six more soon.

Meanwhile, the director general said that four jail superintendents have been transferred.

Superintendent of Cherlapally Open Air Jail has been transferred to the Chanchalguda Central Prison and K. Arjun Rao was shifted to the Open Air Jail from the headquarters. Chanchalguda superintendent B. Murali Babu has been transferred to the Warangal Central Prison.
