Osmania University alumni asked not to make donations in cash
Hyderabad: Osmania University has received about Rs 4 crore in donations from its alumni from all over the world on the occasion of its centenary celebrations. One of the most generous donations has been made by the Alumni Association University College of Engineering (AAUCE): Rs 70 lakh to construct a training centre for teachers in their alma mater.
“From the beginning I have encouraged donors not to donate in the form of cash, but contribute for developmental activities,” he said.
Referring to the Rs 70 lakh donation, Mr D. Vijay of the AAUCE, said, “We have donated Rs 70 lakh, which is the largest donation OU has received to date. We have passed a resolution to construct a Centre for Excellence for Training and Development for training faculty in technology. The in-house set up will have a set of classrooms, two seminar halls, discussion rooms and auditorium.”
The Osmania University Alumni Association has donated Rs 25 lakh, and the cheque was handed over to the Vice Chancellor by the Centenary Celebrations Alumni Committee chairman A. Shyam Mohan. Dr Ramulu, an alumnus based in the United States, donated Rs 1 lakh and Mr V. Madhusudan, an alumnus of the College of Technology, Rs 10,000.
