Notice to GHMC over Nallagandla
Hyderabad: The Pollution Control Board has issued a letter to the GHMC regarding “unscientific” waste disposal at the Rock Garden in Nallagandla. Planned to be one of the biggest parks in the city, residents alleged the area was turned into an “illegal” dump yard.
The GHMC says the area is being maintained as a garbage transfer station. Harichandana Dasari, GHMC west zone commissioner, said, “We have started rectifying the problems residents are facing after it came to our notice. The transfer station has been there since the past few years but the volume of garbage has increased. An overnight change is not possible.” She said the set-aside for the park would be developed and GHMC would set up a dry waste resource centre.
Hridesh Gupta, a local, said it was meant to be a temporary dump yard and hoped for some relief after the notice.
