Christian charity to be probed: Supreme Court
He claimed that the money was donated by foreign donors for a programme to educate Dalit children.
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court cleared the way for investigation of a case pending with the CID against OM-Operation Mobilisation, a city-based Christian charitable trust, by dismissing its special leave petition. The court directed the CID to expedite the investigation.
In September 2016, the trust’s former chief financial officer Albert Lael Gowripaga had alleged that OM and its principal trustee had amassed more than Rs 100 crore.
He claimed that the money was donated by foreign donors for a programme to educate Dalit children. A case was filed with the CID, which the trust unsuccessfully challenged in the High Court. It then moved the SC.
