Vijayawada: People are set for the Theppotsavam of Sri Durga Malleswara Swami in Krishna River on Saturday. A huge Hamsa Vahanam has been decorated for the Theppotsavam and officials conducted a trial run to check for problems.
Theppotsavam has a significant role in Dasara as Goddesses Kanaka Durga and Malleswara Swami will be taken on the boat. Idols of the deity will be brought from the temple through a huge procession and thousands are expected at Durga ghat to participate in the fete.
District collector B. Lakshmikantham conducted a review meeting with temple executive officer A. Surya Kumari, Deputy Commissioner Kranti Tata and Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas on arrangements to be made for the festival.
The police department said that passes will be issued to the devotees and they have to enter Durga Ghat by 5 pm. Special arrangements will be made at Prakasam Barrage for devotees who have come to witness Theppotsavam.
