Smart Pulse Survey misses target in Guntur

Two enumerators were suspended by the Guntur Municipal Corporation for dereliction of SPS duties.

Guntur: The Smart Pulse Survey has failed to reach the target. The flash floods in the Palnadu region and other areas of Guntur district troubled the public and they are seeking extension of the last date for Smart Pulse Survey (SPS).

The last date for SPS is September 30 but only 64 per cent survey was completed in the district. Two enumerators were suspended by the Guntur Municipal Corporation for dereliction of SPS duties.

The enumerators are alleging slow Internet, server connectivity and absence of public during daytime as the main causes for the slow pace of the SPS.

According to reports, there is a population of 51,51,671 people in Guntur district of whom 33,10,576 persons were covered in the SPS till date. The state government earlier set August 31 as the last date for completion of SPS, but the Krishna Pushkaralu became a hurdle.

Later, the government extended the last date to September 30 but it seems not possible due to the remaining of only one day’s time.

Sattenapalli, Narasarao-peta, Chilakaluripeta, Dachepalli, Piduguralla and adjacent areas were affected with the flash floods from September 21 and all government departments were busy towards relief activities.

The locals of Nagannakunta in Sattenapalli, R. Govindarajulu, N. Venkatesh and others said that their area was totally marooned during floods and they returned to their houses two days ago from relief camps. They sought extension of SPS for the sake of flood victims.

As many as 3,083 enumerators were appointed for SPS to upload the data instantly through tabs. Meanwhile, enumerators Lohit Bhanu Prakash and B. Narendra were suspended for the dereliction of duties in Guntur city and this action is worrying the enumerators about completion of the task.

The enumerators, on the condition of anony-mity, have said that poor Internet connectivity and server errors are the main causes for the delay. They lamented that tablets having only one GB RAM were unable to perform the tasks swiftly.

The tablets were frequently hanging and they are spending their own money for repairs to restart the work without delay. They sought improvement of Internet and server connectivity to complete the SPS data collection.
